Elvis circular knitting machine pattern

Elvis pattern on Sentro 32, 22 & Addi Egg (or other I cord machine or crochet).

I made this on  my Sentro 32 & came up with pattern from scratch. Can be made on any machine from 22 to 46/48. Obviously adjust pattern to your machine.

All yarn used was woolcraft baby dk, white, pale peach & black. The silver & gold thread were just basic sewing cotton, it was all I had. I'd recommend a slightly thicker thread, or even scrap jewellery chain.

I made up all my tubes first & then assembled & finished tubes off. (Please give credit if you share this pattern to Bex James)

Body

80 rows pale peach or skin colour of choice & separately make 25 (50 if doubling into tube like a hat) rows of white to make top of jumpsuit.

*OR* 20 rows body colour, 40 white, 20 body colour,

Legs - 23 white (make 2)

Cinch both ends, then roll into shape & use stitch markers (I used bobby pins/hair pins) to ensure a nice clean seam. & joined with a simple whip stitch. (Do same for arms below)

Arms - 5 body colour 12 white.

Hair - 10-12 rows of black on 32 cinch ends as usual, make a flat circle & shape into Elvis hair then attach.

Thats the top of hair & quiff. Then use a 22 & do 24 rows to make a cinch ended tube.

Attach around head to make rest of hair.

Using an I cord (I used Addi egg) make a black cord. Fasten off for two, 2 inch tubes for side burns.*

*Alternatively, crochet - ch 18 for double layer, then sc (dc uk) into 2nd ch from hook & in each st till end of row. Ch 2 then turn, sc into each st till end of row. Check width, depending on yarn you may need one more row. Ch 2 then sc into each st till end, ch 1 fasten off.

Pictures above are smaller versions just to show how the crochet looks. (9ch foundation instead of 18).

I used a dk weight & needed 3 rows for a width of 3/4 inch or 2cm.

Fold in half secure to head as sideburns, make 2.

Use silver & gold thread for accessories & spangles.

Assembly -

Body (if you did top inclusive with body)**(if you opted to do top separately follow below till you reach * then skip to ** & follow from there.

Turn inside out. Turn on itself matching white to white & body colour to body colour. Tidy up. Put in safety eyes or stitch on eyes & mouth. Attach hair to head in desired Elvis style. Stuff with filling & shape head. Weave peach around at the 15th or 17th row of peach/body colour to cinch head, shape as you go. Fasten off & hide ends in work. * Stuff body, cinch & fasten off & hide ends.

Attach arms to body where you want them.

**If you opted to make the top of the jumpsuit separately to the body, this is where you stuff the body, shaping as you go, cinch off. Attach arms where you want them. Then put on, shape & attach top. With accessories of your choice.

Legs - to define the boot tops I used crochet or braided silver & gold thread & attached approximately 1inch or 2cm from bottom of foot. Mine are 1.5 inches from bottom of foot.

Once done attach legs to body.

I then chose to make a belt with the silver & gold thread & white yarn on Addi Egg & crochet.

I cord 7 inches, attach around waist. Then chained 60 with silver & gold thread & worked around belt. I then attached a jewelled button as a buckle.

Using the silver & gold thread & a silver button I had, I made a medallion neck chain. Ch 25 then dc (tr uk) to end & fasten off. Attach around neck, fasten into necklace. I attached a silver button as a medallion.

I made a microphone by - ch 18 in a grayish yarn. 1/2dc (tr uk) in 2nd ch from hook. Do 5. Ch 1 turn & slip st back up the five 1/2 dc St's. Ch 1 & fasten off. Weave in both ends.

Take black yarn a magic circle, sc 6 (dc uk) sl St to join. Ch 2 - 1/2 dc in each st, 12 St total. Sl St to join, ch 2

Invisible decrease in each st. 6 St total. Ch 1 & fasten off. Attach to top of gray microphone stem.

Attach to hand. Elvis used either hand so either is good.

Accessorise as you wish.

Hope you have fun making Elvis.
